Seamill Hydro Wedding Photographer

Lauren and Matthew’s wedding at Seamill Hydro was an incredible day on the Ayrshire coast. From getting ready in the morning and an emotional ceremony surrounded by family and friends, through to portraits on the beach and a packed dance floor in the evening, there was so much to photograph.
Seamill Hydro is a brilliant venue for wedding photography because you have so much variety in one location. The hotel gives you beautiful, elegant spaces indoors, while just outside you have the gardens and the Ayrshire coastline. It meant we could give Lauren and Matthew a really varied collection of wedding photographs without taking them away from their guests for long periods of the day.

A Wedding Ceremony at Seamill Hydro

Lauren and Matthew had their ceremony at Seamill Hydro surrounded by their closest family and friends. I always try to photograph ceremonies as naturally as possible, concentrating on the little reactions as much as the big moments.
Those glances between the couple, parents watching from the front row, guests laughing and the reactions as the bride walks into the ceremony are often some of my favourite photographs from a wedding day.
Rather than directing anything, I want these parts of the day to happen naturally. It means that when Lauren and Matthew look back through their wedding photographs, they are seeing what the day actually felt like rather than a series of moments created for the camera.

Wedding Photography at Seamill Hydro

One of my favourite things about photographing weddings at Seamill Hydro is the variety you have for couple portraits. The venue sits right on the Ayrshire coast, so you can go from the hotel and gardens to the beach within minutes.
Lauren and Matthew were brilliant to photograph. We headed down towards the coast for a short couple shoot, keeping everything relaxed and giving them some time together away from the busy reception.
I never want the couple photographs to take over the wedding day. A little direction when it's needed, plenty of natural moments in between, and then it's back to the party.

Seamill Hydro Wedding Photos on the Ayrshire Coast

The coastal setting is one of the things that makes Seamill Hydro such a distinctive wedding venue. Having the beach so close gives us the opportunity to create completely different photographs without disappearing from your guests for a long part of the day.
The beach, rocks and open views across the Firth of Clyde give us plenty of options, and we can decide on the day what works best depending on the light and weather. Even a short walk along the coast can give you a beautiful set of relaxed wedding portraits.
For me, it's about making the most of the location while still keeping the photography natural and making sure you get back to enjoying your wedding.

Evening Celebrations at Seamill Hydro

Once the formal parts of the day were finished, it was time for Lauren and Matthew to celebrate properly with everyone.
I love photographing this part of a wedding day. The atmosphere changes, everyone relaxes and the photographs become much more energetic. From the first dance through to a packed dance floor, I photograph it as it happens rather than constantly pulling people towards the camera.
It's the perfect way to finish the story of a wedding day at Seamill Hydro.
